There’s always that friend who you better ignore on social media. They’re boring and they don’t even realize no one is interested in knowing what’s up with them these days. Good news! Instagram has finally realized this and is rolling out a small but important feature to allow you mute someone on Instagram without unfollowing them. Congrats! That saved your friendship.
This new mute feature will launch in the coming weeks. The feature is important because you don’t have to be rude to others. They won’t be able to know that you have muted their account on Instagram unless they drop by and ask in person why you aren’t responding to their posts.
The activation of this new feature doesn’t mean you’re ignoring an account altogether. You can, anytime, visit their page to see their posts. Besides, you’ll receive a notification whenever they tag you in a post. It’s only the general posts they update that you won’t have to see on your Feeds page.
