With working on your computer for hours on end, you might forget to stretch out a bit and give your eyes and neck a relief. And because no one else is coming to remind you of taking a break, you’ll have to do it yourself. Why not have your computer’s help in this? Yes, you heard it right! By using a default alarm tool, you can create an alarm in Windows 7 computer.
Many third-party apps are available that help you set an alarm on your PC but it’s a waste to take an external help when your Windows 7 is providing you the built-in Task Manager. Scroll down the post to learn how you can do so.
Create an Alarm in Windows 7
Open Task Scheduler
- Click the Start button and enter “task scheduler” in the search field
- Select Task Scheduler from the appeared result list
Set an Alarm
In order to create an alarm in Windows 7, you need to go through three phases viz. creating a task name along with its details, setting the trigger that will initiate on a specific time, and creating the action that will happen at that time to remind you of the task. Here’s how you can so that:

Start Creating a Task
- Head to the “Create Task” option in the right pane of Task Scheduler
- Once the Create Task dialog box shows up, go to the General tab
- Now, type a name for the task

Create a Trigger
A trigger will cause something to happen to alert us:
- Head to the Trigger tab and click New at the bottom
- On the New dialog box, click Begin Task drop-down menu
- You can choose any For example, “On a Schedule”
- Define days and starting time for the task in the Settings box
- If you want to repeat the task, set it in the Advanced Settings box
- Make sure to put a check in the Enabled checkbox
- Click Ok

Create an Action
- Open the Actions tab and select New at the bottom
- On the New Action box, click the Action drop-down menu
- If you choose, for instance, “Display a message” from the list; you need to enter a title and message to be displayed on the alarm dialog box
- Once done, click Ok
You have set an alarm in Windows 7 for you. To see the created task, head to the left pane in Task Scheduler. In the center of the library, you will find the name of your created task. If you want to test it now, right-click on it and choose Run.
