How to Export Saved Passwords in Google Chrome

Needless to say, passwords are of essential use for you and keeping them safe in a browser makes your next logins easy by auto-filling your passwords in the login area. Thankfully, all major web browsers offer you option to save your passwords. But what if you want to export saved passwords into some third-party password manager app?

The already existing, inbuilt Password Manager in Google Chrome allows you to easily sync it with other devices. However, with its new feature to do the task, Chrome has made it way easier by exporting your saved passwords as a text file, making it convenient to switch between Chrome and other browsers. The report about this feature for exporting saved passwords was broadcasted on Google + by Chrome evangelist Francois Beaufort. Currently, this feature is available for the Chrome Dev Channel for desktop and Android.

Enable the Feature

Export Saved Passwords-Enable the FeatureThis feature is yet to find a place on the stable channel of Chrome as it is still being tested by the developers. In the meanwhile, you can enable it by navigating to a flag setting. To do that, all you need to do is simply type chrome://flags/#password-export into the URL bar and select “Enable” from the drop-down menu in front of Export Passwords option. Now relaunch the browser to export your passwords.

Export Saved Passwords

Method 1:

  • Once you’re in the Chrome Dev Channel, enter chrome://settings/passwords in the URL bar

Export Saved Passwords-Export Your Passwords-Click on the three dots

  • Now, select the three-dot drop-down menu near Saved Passwords to click the Export Passwords button

Method 2:

  • Head to the Menu > Settings > Advanced Settings > Manage Passwords

Export Saved Passwords-Export Your Passwords-Click Export Passwords

  • Now, select the three-dot drop-down menu near Saved Passwords to click the Export Passwords button

This will export saved passwords as a plain text CSV file from your chrome browser to be used on your other password manager app.
