A new Gmail update for Android is being rolled out bringing some minor but visually distinct changes to the service. The swipe function that used to archive an email is now presented in a different way, giving users an access to undo button positioned at the bottom of the screen. This placement makes it easy to undo archive by using your thumb while gripping the phone.
Previously, swiping an email to either right or left in Gmail for Android was followed by undo button appearing in the colored bar.
The archive interface tweak is being seen as a result of big-screen smartphones becoming more popular and taking over the market. With this new Gmail update for Android, users can easily access the Undo button with their thumb.
Apart from this, the latest Gmail app update will also let users change Google account settings such as profile information, password, and privacy and security settings. Earlier, Android users had to use the Gmail for desktop to perform these tasks.
In order to edit your Google account settings using the new Gmail update, head over to Settings, choose your desired email account, and tap on the My Account option. Although it’s not a big tweak, it brings the Gmail app in the better position with the Material Design guidelines, which already followed by many apps.
