Facebook Messenger provides you with countless ways to stay in touch with your friends all around the world. You can make audio and video calls, start a group chat, and share files with your family and friends. You can even know when they have seen your message as the app shows that it’s been read and vice-versa. But what if you want to keep it a secret that you have read your friend’s message? Well, it’s quite possible. Here, we’ll show you a few ways to secretly read Facebook messages without the sender knowing. Let’s delve in.
Secretly Read Facebook Messages Without the Sender Knowing
On Android and iPhone
Check Your Notification Screen
If you have push notifications turned on for FB Messenger, you’ll get notified whenever you receive a message. This means that messages are already stored on your device as soon as they received, whether you have read them or not.
Those users who have banner notifications enabled on their phone can see the content of a message on their device’s notification screen. The notification banner will show you who the message is from and what the sender has said, letting you secretly read the message without even opening the Messenger. In this way, the sender will not get any read receipt from you.
However, this trick becomes less effective once you start receiving lots of messages in quick succession. Your phone’s notifications screen can only hold a certain number of messages and older tabs will drop out as new messages filter in. That’s where the second cunning plan comes handy.
Since all the received messages are already on your device, all you need to do is prevent the app from knowing the sender that you’ve read them, right? The only way to stop read receipts is via the Internet. By switching your phone to Airplane Mode, you remove the Messenger app’s ability to process the fact that you have opened a message.
So, if you want to secretly read Facebook messages without the sender knowing, turn on the Airplane Mode on your phone. Afterward, open the Messenger app and read the received messages. Consequently, the sender won’t know you’ve seen his/her messages.
Once done, make sure you close the app before turning the Airplane Mode off. In this way, you can secretly read FB messages on Android and iPhone.
