Microsoft is all set to host a special hardware and software event on May 2, 2017. Whilst details are not clear yet, reports of a new leak have come forward. Microsoft may announce Google Chrome OS rival – Windows 10 Cloud software.

The Redmond-based giant is holding the event in New York, where it’s anticipated to reveal the new OS. Likely to be called Windows 10 S, it will work in the same way as Google’s Chrome OS and will be aimed at the education sector. Perhaps, that’s the reason Google tested new Copyless Paste feature in Chrome for Android.

Along with reports that “Microsoft may unveil Chrome OS rival on May 2”, a leaked document illustrating minimum requirements for Windows 10 OS has also surfaced online. As per the document, a device running on Windows 10 Cloud should have a quad-core Celeron processor, 10+ hours of battery life, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (64GB for 64-bit OS), and eMMC/SSD storage. Optical pen and touch support should also be included within the device.

Reports further state that the new operating system rival to Chrome OS, i.e. Windows 10 S will come with a few enhancements over Windows RT. The new OS will have an improved store for Universal Windows Apps, upgrade path to Windows 10 Home or Pro, and support for Win32 apps via ‘Project Centennial’ bridge. And withal, all these specifications have been compared with that of Chromebooks. This bespeaks the ability to vie with Google’s education-focused laptops which will be commencing on May 2.
