Skype has a cool hidden feature that allows you to share what’s happening on your computer screen with the person you’re calling. Using the new feature, you can share important files to a friend without any need to send them or receive technical help.

Important Note: In order to proceed further with the tutorial, you’ll need Skype IM for Windows. So, we recommend you to download and install the messenger on your PC first.

You also need to keep the following things in mind:
- You can share your Skype screen with 2 people at a time. If you want to share with multiple users – you’ll need to upgrade to the Premium version of the messaging app
- Both users must be running the latest version of Skype
- You must have a broadband Internet connection to share screen on Skype. The feature doesn’t work for dial-up connections
- A PC running Windows XP or higher
- Latest version of Skype
- Active Internet connection
How to Share screen on Skype in six easy steps
Step 1. Launch Skype
First of all, launch Skype on your PC and log into your Skype account. After successful login – you’ll be navigated to the main app screen where you’ll see the list of contacts you had added earlier using Skype
Step 2. Start a voice or video call with a contact
Select a contact from the list and start a voice or video call by clicking on the respective icons from the top-right corner
Step 3. Click on the + (Plus) button during the call
When the call is going on, you’ll see a + (Plus) button in the caller bar (along with microphone and call disconnect buttons). Just click on it

Step 4. Select “Share screens” option
From the small menu that appears in front of you, click on the Share screens option
Step 5. Check your screen preview
In the next step, you’ll be asked to preview your screen before sharing it. You can also decide whether you want to share a window or want to share your entire desktop. Just click on the drop-down option in the bottom-left corner and select the relevant option
Step 6. Start sharing your screen
Once you’ve previewed your screen, you can begin sharing by clicking on the Start button in the bottom right corner on the screen.
After this, the other person whom you’re making the call will be able to see your desktop screen.
Once you’re done sharing your screen – you can click on the stop sharing button to discontinue sharing.
