There are many times you need to rotate a video on Android. Sometimes, you may accidentally capture a video in portrait mode while trying to capture it in landscape and end up with a sideways video. However, it’s not that easy to rotate videos in Android.
In this post, we’ll guide you on how to rotate a video on Android using the Google Photos app.
Step-by-step guide to rotate a video on Android
- An Android smartphone with Google Photos app installed on it
Rotate a video on Android using the Google photos app in simple steps
Step 1. First of all, launch Google Photos apps on your Android phone
Step 2. If you’re using the app for the first time, you’ll be asked to set your Backup & Sync settings first. You can skip the process by tapping Done button
Step 3. Once you’ve skipped the initial setup process, select the video you want to rotate and tap on it to start playing
Step 4. In the next step, pause the video and tap the screen. This will load video controls. Just tap on the little pencil icon at the bottom of the screen
Step 5. This will open edit menu of the Google Photos app. From here, you can trim the video by removing unnecessary frames. At the bottom the screen, you’ll also see the rotate option. Just tap on it
This will rotate your video to landscape mode. You can save it on your device by tapping the Save button at the top right corner.
The rotated video will be saved as a copy. It will not overwrite the original video.
