In the beginning of the year, Google introduced a new way to find a lost Android phone. Fortunately, a few months later, the company announced the same functionality of search options for owners of lost iPhones as well. Given so, now you can use Google Search to find your lost iPhone.

The tech titan added a new dedicated “Find you phone” section to the “My Account” page in your Google account.

To use Google search to find your lost iPhone, follow the steps below:

  • Click on “Find my phone”
  • A list of devices, including tablets, phones, and Android and iOS devices will appear on which you have signed in with your Google account.
  • Now, choose an iOS device
  • 5 suggestions will be visible –
  1. Find and lock your iPhone
  2. Try calling your phone
  3. Reach out to your carrier
  4. Sign out on your phone
  5. Reach out for local help

These suggestions are quite useful as a starting point for someone panicked with a lost iPhone not able to track their device. Anyway, the process is bit harder than the lost Android device given that Google can’t take full control of an iOS device.

For instance, the Find and lock your iPhone option only directs you to iCloud.com, where you are able to locate your iPhone on a map. You can also enable Lost Mode to lock your iPhone remotely.

On the contrary, the same option on an Android device offers Ring and Locate buttons, which lets you call your device or locate it on a map without having to leave the page or sign in into iCloud.

As per Google, the same options will be available on iOS as well, in order to help you use Google Search to find your lost iPhone. The first thing to locate a lost or stolen iPhone is visiting iCloud.com from a computer. You can also use Find my iPhone app from an iPad or some other iOS device.
