Setting up Anti-Theft feature
To set up Anti Theft feature in ESET Smart Security, you’ll need to follow some simple steps mentioned below:
Step 1. Before you proceed further, make sure that your ESET smart security is up-to-date. Anti-Theft feature is only present in version 6.0 and higher. So if you’re running the older version of the program, download and install the latest version.

Step 2. Double click the ESET smart security icon running in system tray to launch the software
Step 3. On the home screen, you’ll find Configure Anti-Theft now option. Just click on it. You’ll be navigated to the next screen, where you’re prompted to enter your ESET account username and password.
In case you don’t have an account, you can create one by clicking on Create new ESET account and then entering required details.
Step 4. Once you’ve entered your details, click the Next button. You’ll see a message saying “adding device successfully completed”.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully setup Anti Theft feature in ESET Smart security.
Locating lost or stolen devices
Now here comes the real task i.e locating your lost or stolen devices using ESET Smart Security. For this, you’ll need to follow a series of simple steps mentioned below:
Step 1. In case your laptop or PC goes missing, navigate to official ESET website and login using your ESET account
Step 2. On the ESET Anti-Theft page, click your device (if you’ve added it here) > Status menu and then Mark as missing button
When you mark the selected device as missing, ESET Smart Security automatically blocks all user accounts, except for a fake user account (created by ESET itself) and starts capturing pictures (of course using the built-in webcam) and screenshots at regular intervals.
Step 3. Now, click the Activity option to view secretly taken screenshots of your desktop, pictures snapped from webcam and last know geographical location.
