Google will now send webmasters alerts about hacked websites via Google Analytics Dashboard. Now the application will alert site owners if their website has been hacked for spam.
Google recently revealed that it would be improving its security notifications for the websites that have been hacked in order to cover cases where websites get infected with SEO spam.
Earlier this year, Google added Safe Browsing API to the Google Analytics Dashboard to alert users regarding sites found compromised and being used for allocating phishing or malware attacks. Google webmasters who use Google Analytics code on their websites will now receive SEO spam notifications if their website is ever found compromised.
It means, from now on, whenever Google finds a malware or any other potential threat on a website, it will send an SEO spam notification to the webmaster’s Analytics dashboard.
Google is all set to enhance these notifications with new alerts that inform the webmasters whenever it finds SEO spam on their website.
The notification is certainly very much needed as SEO spam has become more and more prominent in recent time.
According to report from Imperva, more than 700 domains have been hacked using SQL Injection. Even a report from Sucuri suggests that a developer based in India distributing unfounded WordPress plugins and themes that included a backdoor that approved him to access the website leaving SEO spam behind.
180% increase in SEO spam since last September
Google’s website scanning tools has found 180 percent increase in the number of hacked websites, raising SEO spam.
Google has even found in previous researches that a direct contact with website owners widens the chance of having the site spotless by 75%.
Google says, “We’ll be expanding our set of alerts in Google Analytics by adding notifications about sites hacked for spam in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines.”
Furthermore, there is no need to verify your website with Google Search Console to check all these SEO spam notifications in Google Analytics, but it worth mentioning that you need to verify your site with Google Search Console if you want to receive additional alerts and messages.
