Before turning your iPhone into a Wi-Fi hotspot, you must check with your mobile phone carrier first. - Go to your Mobile Settings > Mobile
- Tap Personal Hotspot and turn it ON
- Now turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi On over your iPhone
- Tap Wi-Fi password and fill the space with a suitable one (you can choose any password, it’s not linked to your Apple Id or usual Wi-Fi connection)
- Your iPhone will ask you to check the name of the hotspot displayed under To Connect Using Wi-Fi (iPhone 6 in our case)
- Now head to your Mac and click Airport in the Menu bar
Note: If you haven’t found the Airport icon on your Mac then you can also navigate to System Preferences and click Wi-Fi to choose the iPhone Hotspot from the Network Name.
In order to access Wi-Fi settings from the menu bar of your Mac, make sure “Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar” option is ticked mark.
- Select the Wi-Fi hotspot listed there (iPhone 6 in our case)
- Now enter the same password you filled earlier
That’s it. Now you can browse the Internet on your Mac using the same data connection used by your iPhone.
Though the speed of your Internet connection totally depends on how good your iPhone’s network connection is.
Once you are finish with the use of Internet on your Mac, tap Settings on your iPhone and navigate to Mobile > Personal Hotspot and turn it Off.
