After announcing a new flagship smartphone this month, Yu Mobiles, a Micromax subsidiary, has sent out invites for the launch of its latest flagship smartphone; YU YUNICORN.
The company will launch the smartphone in an event to be held on May 19.
“Fantasy will soon become reality. Join us in the unveiling of the phone that will redefine flagships,” the invite reads. However, no information is provided regarding the phone’s design or its features.
Last week, the company’s co-founder and CEO Rahul Sharma appeared in a video. The video shows him smashing a model of a ship with a hammer.
“It (UNICORN) will break records, it will break the conventional, it will break the rules…WAIT, it will break the flagships,” Rahul Sharma said in his statement regarding YU YUNICORN.
From the teaser and the invite, one thing is clear that YU and its CEO Rahul is quite confident about the new smartphone and why it shouldn’t be? After all, it has delivered so many promosing smartphones in the past: Yu Yureka, Yu Yureka Plus, followed by Yu Yunique, Yu Yutopia and Yu Yuphoria. Over the time YU Televentures have established itself as a successful brand in mid-range smartphone market. As such, we can also expect something unique and out of the box with Yu Yunicorn.
Few days back, a Yu smartphone codenamed Yu5530 was spotted in a Geekbench benchmark listing. According to the bench mark listing, the Yu5530 features an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755M) processor clocked at 1.8GHz, and comes with 4GB of RAM. The device is reported to run on Android 5.1 Lollipop and might support Cyanogen OS.
Well, there are pretty much chances that the codenamed Yu5530 smartphone is YU Yunicorn indeed.
Whatever it is! The mystery unfolds on May 19. Stay tuned for more updates!
