Google Maps, the navigation service from the search giant, only supports a single ride service in its app, Uber. However, it is soon going to change with a new upcoming Google Maps update. The navigational service from Google is going to append its list of supported ride services by adding 5 new services.
The newly added services are, namely 99 Taxis in Brazil, Gett in the UK, Hailo in the UK and Spain, Mytaxi in Germany and Spain, and Ola Cabs in India.
The new feature is quite simple to make use of. To use it, you just need to navigate to the top of the Google Maps app. A new option, for using the feature, lays right next to the biking direction and other options found at the top of the Google Maps app screen.
With inclusion of the new feature in Google Maps, you no longer have to open apps associated to the ride services. The integration of the 5 ride booking services to Google Maps will allow you to book them directly from the navigation app with a single tap.
Not only the new feature will display arrival timings of such cabs but will also let users compare the fares of different ride services available at a particular location.
For gaining info about the fares and pick up times of service cars at your desired location you need to install the respective app of the service on your device. With a single tap, you’ll be taken to the official app to complete your booking details and provide other necessary details.
The new book-your-ride feature of Google Maps will make its Android debut sometime soon over the next couple of days. Google has also expressed plans of making the feature available on iOS app at some later time.
