Nintendo has come up with a great news for iOS users! The video game company will finally launch its iconic character Super Mario on the App store. The announcement was made by Apple CEO Tim Cook yesterday, during iPhone 7 launch event held at San Francisco, California.

U.S listed shares of Nintendo saw a leap of more than 28 percent after the news was announced.

Nintendo creative fellow and the creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto introduced the new game, Super Mario Run, at the event.

This simple game features Mario running to the right, while users tap on screen to make the character jump and collect coins within a fixed time period for each level. Unlike other iterations of the notable game, you can play Super Mario Run one-handed, Miyamoto said at the event, in a translation from Japanese. A battle mode called toad rally is also there within the game.

This announcement is being seen as the next big thing in the gaming industry, hoping that it will create history, like Nintendo’s just launched Pokémon Go. It must be noted that Pokémon Go is a huge success. It broke all records.

“Apple’s lead off announcement shows the power of content exclusivity,” said Jennifer Kent, director of Parks Associates in her statement.

“A new Mario game will be popular, not only among the kids and teens but also among the older millennial generation who grew up playing the famous game. Apple is just hoping to recreate the Pokémon Go craze of the summer, which also leveraged an established gaming character and a sense of nostalgia to engage gamers from all age groups,” Kent further added.

While Android has some apps that can emulate the Mario world, Super Mario Run is the first to arrive on iPhone.

Nintendo’s US-listed shares were already rising, following the success of the blockbuster augmented reality game Pokémon Go. The game was developed and distributed by Niantic, but was affiliated with the Pokémon Company.

The console-maker hopes to re-create the same magic, this time on Apple with the forever-loved Mario.
